Carolina Mountains Literary Festival
On September 9th, I presented at the Carolina Mountains Literary Festival!

My first presentation of the day was at the festival itself about the book I co-authored with N.H. Senzai called FLYING OVER WATER.

After that I was whisked away to Burnsville Elementary School to talk to the students about my Appalachian picture books. The festival had secured a grant so that each student received a free copy of, SHE SANG FOR THE MOUNTAINS.

I finished the day signing stock at a new independent bookstore, Plott Hound Books, which is owned by renowned Appalachian cookbook author, Ronni Lundy.

In other news, STORY QUILTS APPALACHIAN WOMEN SPEAK will celebrate its official book birthday on Friday, September 30th, and I will be speaking about this book on October 6th at School Library Journal’s Day of Dialogue. I’ll share more details about both these events next month.
Happy Fall, Y’all!
