With two new books out, it has been a busy spring!!

My co-author Amie Specht and I were guests on Reading With Your Kids Podcast . We spoke with Jed Doherty about our book DANCING IN THE STORM. We are the second interview at the 28 minute mark and you can listen to us here: https://readingwithyourkids.libsyn.com/how-fantasy-and-realism-can-educate-and-inspire-young-readers

On May 3rd, I traveled to Burnsville, NC for a presentation at Blue Ridge Elementary School. The third graders had just completed a unit on water and my book about Wilma Dykeman has curriculum tie-ins. I also did a reading in Burnsville at Plott Hound Books, an indy bookstore owned by Appalachian author, Ronni Lundy.

May 15th found me at the Grove Park Inn speaking to a group of Harvard MBAs about book bans and challenges. I never expected to have one of my novels on a banned books list, but ONE TRUE WAY has run into some controversy.

I was touched and deeply honored when journalist Chelsea Boes wrote an article about OF WORDS AND WATER for the Asheville Citizen Times. The article is called Remembering Asheville’s Wilma Dykeman and her love of the French Broad River. I’ll link to it here: https://www.citizen-times.com/story/life/2024/05/18/chelsea-boes-remembering-asheville-environmentalist-wilma-dykeman/73605156007/

I also had the pleasure of presenting with Wilma Dykeman’s son, Jim Stokely at the Wrong Way River Lodge on May 25th. We are planning to repeat that presentation to the East Tennessee Historical Society in October.

And lastly, I have an offer for my latest novel, which will be called WILD MOUNTAIN IVY. I don’t want to say too much about it until the contract is signed, but I am excited to have a new book in the pipeline!
