July Was Disability Pride Month!
My co-author, Amie Specht celebrated Disability Pride Month with a series of Instagram posts. She shared how she uses tools to help her type, feed herself, even get in and out of bed. You can find her on Instagram at the handle amiespecht.
School Library Journal wrote a nice review of the audio version of DANCING IN THE STORM and you can read it here: https://www.slj.com/review/dancing-in-the-storm-audio
Amie and I also wrote a blog post for Teen Librarian Toolbox called My Life Became a Middle Grade Novel by Amie Specht as told to Shannon Hitchcock. I’ll provide the link here: https://teenlibrariantoolbox.com/2024/07/18/my-life-became-a-middle-grade-novel-a-guest-post-by-amie-specht-as-told-to-shannon-hitchcock/
School Library Journal also included our book in an article called 25 Audiobooks Featuring Disabled Characters. https://www.slj.com/story/25-audiobooks-featuring-disabled-characters-young-listeners-all-ages
Because of Amie’s physical challenges, our in-person presentations are limited, but we did speak to a book club on July 19th.
RARE Revolution Magazine, a publication that focuses on rare diseases gave DANCING IN THE STORM a nice shout out on Instagram. We appreciate everyone that is helping us promote our book!
